Hayward and Ellen Reece started growing apples in 1946 after he returned from WWII. He bought a small 15 acre existing orchard and together they expanded year by year and sold most the apples wholesale from a shed behind their house. Ellen is still living and her family has continued to grow and operate the family orchard. They have shared their family recipe for apple cake with us.
