Gloria Bohannon Wallace

Gloria "Deanie" Bohannon Wallace, formerly of Newnan, died Dec. 27, 2009. She was born June 10, 1947 in Newnan, in the "Historic Rocky Hill" community.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Willie "Frisk" and Sarah F. Bohannon Sr., three brothers and two nephews.

She was educated at Central High School where she played the clarinet in the concert and marching bands. After high school she began at Savannah State College and at Clark College. She graduated with a Bachelor or Arts degree from Jersey City State College. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.

Services were at the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Newnan, with the Rev. Stafford Dudley, officiating. Interment was at Sunset Cemetery, Newnan. Survivors include daughters, Yvetta Denise and Michael Harris, Fairburn, Varnetta Tawan Wallace, Decatur; grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Wallace, Decatur, and Michael Harris, Fairburn; four brothers; and one sister. Roscoe Jenkins Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.
