Robert H. Ashley

Robert H. Ashley, 70, Brooks, died Jan. 16, 2010. He was born Dec. 29, 1939 in Sharpsburg, son of the late Ralph and Estelle Ashley. He enjoyed working on his land and spending time with his family. He started a successful wire rope and sling business over 50 years ago. He also started an insurance company and loved to work.

Services were at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bob Martin and Bobby Partridge officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Martha Ashley, Brooks; sons, Greg and Laurie Ashley, David and Valerie Ashley, and Mike and Janet Ashley; a daughter, Wanda Hogg; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Nell Floyd; and five sisters-in-law. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge.

Government

The city of Newnan received a disaster reimbursement grant of $34,634.65 for cleanup and recovery costs associated with the ice storm that hit the city in mid-February 2014.
