Nine underage drinkers arrested at rowdy party

A late night gathering at Weatherly Walk Apartments in Fayetteville last weekend resulted in the arrest of nine underage drinkers.

Fayetteville Police spokesperson Steve Crawshaw said officers at 2:30 a.m. received a call about a possible fight occurring in one of the buildings at Weatherly Walk Apartments, located in east Fayetteville off Ga. Highway 54.

After arriving at the scene officers found no altercation at the specified building but did hear a range of activity including loud music and people yelling coming from an apartment in the adjacent building, Crawshaw said.

Crawshaw said officers approached the apartment where they heard active scuffling, shouting, loud music and significant movement inside the apartment. That activity led officers to believe the fight could be in that building rather than the adjacent building referenced in the initial report.

Knocks at the door went unanswered initially, Crawshaw said, adding that someone inside the apartment began closing windows and curtains.

Once the knocks at the door were answered, officers were told they had no right to be there, Crawshaw said, noting that one or more of the occupants also cursed at the officers.

But officers through the open door saw a number of people who appeared to be underage along with a number of beer cans and shot glasses, said Crawshaw. Officers entered the premises and subsequently arrested eight underage drinkers and one juvenile in possession of alcohol.

Cory Fagon Brown, 20, and Devin Cody Phillips, 19, were both arrested for keeping a disorderly house, possession of alcohol by a minor and furnishing alcohol to a minor, said Crawshaw.

Jennifer Lynn Brown, 25, of Newnan, was arrested for interfering with police while Justin Bradley Brown, 26, of Newnan, was arrested for obstruction of an officer and simple battery, Crawshaw said.

And arrested for possession of alcohol by a minor were Ryan J. Mann, 19, of Fayetteville; Kenneth J. Kellerman, 20, of Fayetteville; Cameron T. Brown, 18, of Fayetteville; Hayley C. Garijanian, 18, of Fayetteville; and a 16-year-old Fayetteville juvenile.
