Chick-fil-A scraps plans for westside PTC store

Plans have fallen through for a new Chick-fil-A restaurant that was planned to open along Ga. Highway 54 West at Line Creek Drive in Peachtree City, the company confirmed Tuesday.

The upshot is that the company will keep its current store on Hwy. 54 East open, a company spokesperson said. The company is also “eager to expand within the Peachtree City area” and is currently exploring other location possibilities, according to spokesperson Mark Baldwin.

The Chick-fil-A restaurant slated for Hwy. 54 West was approved by the planning commission last year and would have been located in front of the proposed Overlook shopping center at Line Creek Drive, directly off the highway and next to a RaceTrac convenience store and gas station.

The developer of The Overlook is asking the city to apply for a traffic light on Hwy. 54 to serve the shopping center. Without the Chick-fil-A restaurant in the plans, however, there may be a significant drop in the number of cars projected to use the shopping center area.

A new concept plan for The Overlook submitted by the developer in mid-December still shows a Chick-fil-A restaurant on the plans that are being used to justify the traffic light.

The possible traffic light will be discussed by the Peachtree City Council Thursday at 7 p.m. during its regular meeting.

Twas the wrong spot to move to. We are glad you are staying where you are for now. We hope to find you a primo spot along 54 where you can thrive. Please don't mooove out yet.

Oh how I wish we could have a Penzey's, Sur la Table, and/or Trader Joe's rather than yet another fast food drive through. Sadly and apparently, our community favors crud over cuisine. How sad.

I prefer the Fresh Market myself,

TJ is good if you want cheap wine...I will say that.

Aldi is fairly to TJ's if you did not know.

Nobody is advocating eating at Chic Fil A every meal. They are what they are.

Like their Premium Choice Beef and Boneless Boston Butt Pork (mighty fine for some crock pot BBQ0. If you want a good shopping experience, visit the ALDI in McDonough, where you will find a large, well stocked store (also with national brands--ones I noticed were Charmin,Duke's and Bounty--may be more but didn't look.

No, not today, not ever if I can walk and procure some good lump charcoal.

Fresh Market is great, but, like Whole Foods, it is twice the price of TJ's. Secondly, I am not sure which Aldi's you frequent, but I have never found one that carries some of my TJ's favorites... Kona Coffee Truffles, marcona almonds, bulgogi, barramundi, bresaola, porcini mushroom and truffle triangoli, and double cream gouda. When I asked FM for tallegio , their representative told me it was banned from import by the USDA. Later they told me it was being held up at customs for several weeks. Please let me know which Aldi's I should check out for cheap specialty items.

Sounds like FM doesn't know what they're talking about. I've bought Taleggio from the Kedron Kroger.

We have enough junk food spots. Trader Joe's would be fantastic! I like Fresh Market but it's far more expensive and they have fewer organic items than Trader Joe's.

Bring it!

I thought construction on Race Trac was to begin last November. What is going on with it? The spot is an eyesore.

They are sponsoring the circus that is in town. Enslaving wild animals and forcing them to do tricks to entertain humans is not what I call family friendly entertainment. My CFA eating days are done.

WHATABURGER! It would make a killing here in PTC! THE best burger EVER!!!!

Is there anyway we can get CFA to scrap (emphasis on the "crap") all their stores and have a Hooters finally move into PTC?? Pretty sure we have enough grown-ups to handle it.

Why not Bazooka's? It was a nice place up in Secaucus, NJ back in the day.

Hooters and "grown-up" are mutually exclusive and can never be referenced together with any degree of credibility.

There's one in Newnan if anyone needs to see some plastic bewbs squeezed into a too small t-shirt and eat some barely-passable bar food. Their wings are not good either. Here's what I want:

1) Krispy Kreme!
2) In-and-Out Burger (OK, I know they don't operate on the east coast but why not dream?)
3) Mo-Jo's Wings. Now THAT is some good wings instead of the roadkill Hooter's serves. With Big Jim's in Senoia having to leave their building several months ago, there is a real wing deficit near PTC.
