Cupid Chase is Saturday

The Cupid Chase takes place in historic, downtown Senoia Saturday. Planned and coordinated by Mikki Lewis, event chair, and a team of dedicated volunteers, all monies raised through The Cupid Chase 5K and 1 Mile Encouragement Walk will benefit CURE, Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy. Mikki and her husband, David, a local business owner, have two beautiful daughters; one of whom was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of six.

Over 400 people participated in last year’s inaugural event, and even though it was held on what seemed be the coldest day of the year, the race was very successful, raising $10,000 for CURE! Event planners are expecting another great turnout.
Alongside the 5K and 1 Mile Encouragement Walk a few of the other activities will take place, including a costume contest, team competitions, and valentine making stations. Senoia Coffee and Café will be providing coffee to keep you warm, and Katie Lou’s will donate back 10% of participant’s breakfast tickets.

“When Hadley was 6 years old, she had a grand mal seizure in the middle of her kindergarten class,” said Mikki. “Having no family history of seizures, my husband and I were devastated that such a thing could happen to our perfectly healthy little girl. Little did we know (or could ever imagine) the journey that awaited us would be and continues to be full of heart wrenching challenges. Hadley was diagnosed with epilepsy, and soon after she was diagnosed with Dyslexia, memory problems, delayed fine motor skills, as well as, other learning differences. In the spring of 2012, she began having fragmented seizures in addition to the absence seizures, which was her original diagnosis,” she continued.

“My husband and I have had three different pediatric neurologists tell us that they have no idea why this is happening or what we can expect for her future. As her parents – we have a real problem with the unknown!”
