Lenten lunches start today at FFUMC
Beginning Ash Wednesday and continuing on subsequent Thursdays through March 28, from noon until 1 p.m.  Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will host Lenten Lunches prepared by the UMC circles and a devotional message by pastors, lay leaders and other guest speakers. The lunches will be served in the Fellowship Hall. The cost is $2. The church is across from the old courthouse in downtown Fayetteville.

St. Paul Lutheran sets dates for services
St .Paul Lutheran Church will hold its Ash Wednesday service tonight, Feb. 13,  at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Mid-week Lenten services will be held on Wednesdays, Feb. 20 and 27, March 6, 13, and 20 at 6:30 p.m. The church is on Ardenlee Parkway in Peachtree City.

Ash Wednesday, Lenten services set
Word of God Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will have an Ash Wednesday service on Wednesday Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.  The worship service will include Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes. Wednesday evening Lenten meditation services will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb.y 20, 27, March 6, 13, and 20. Word of God is at 303 Kelly Dr., Suite 10, in Peachtree City.

Word of Life FMC offers diabetes course
Word of Life Free Methodist Church will host a free, four week course on managing diabetes called “40 Days to Better Living.” The class starts on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. at 405 Fayette Place, behind the Dairy Queen in the same complex as La Hacienda. The class covers eating better, exercise, working with your doctor, and connecting with God. A seven step model for healthy living introduces ways to improve your life day by day. God’s J.E.W.E.L.S. session set for Saturday
Shekinah Glory Fellowship Center will host  God’s J.E.W.E.L.S. Women’s Empowerment Session on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at Shekinah Glory Fellowship Center, 383 Fayette Place, Fayetteville. All ladies ages 16 and up are invited to attend. God’s J.E.W.E.L.S. (Joyful Excited Women Empowering Ladies Successfully) is an outreach ministry of Shekinah Glory Fellowship Center. Prayer group meets at Summit
A community prayer group meets at The Summit Family Resource Center, 1373 Ga. Highway 92 S. Fayetteville, from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings.  This is an inter-denominational event. Everyone is invited. Call 770-460-3335 for more information.

The Georgia Department of Labor announced this week that the unemployment rate in the Three Rivers region in July was 7.1 percent, up five-tenths of a percentage point from 6.6 percent in June.
