Lenten lunches start today

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will host weekly Lenten lunches beginning Ash Wednesday, (today), at 11:30 a.m. The Faith Circle will provide a light lunch and the speaker will be the Rev. Mark Westmoreland.

An Ash Wednesday service will be held in the sanctuary tonight at 6:30 p.m. The service will include the imposition of ashes.

Lunches will continue each Thursday throughout Lent, (Feb. 25, March 4, 11, 18 and 25) and will end with a lunch on April 1. All lunches will begin at 11:30 a.m.

The church is in downtown Fayetteville.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9949's next meeting is Thursday, July 9, at 200 Glendalogh Court in Tyrone. The group meets at 7 p.m. the second Thursday of every month.

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Senoia June 6-7 for the Canongate Series #4. The Canongate Seminole Course played excellent host to two very competitive rounds of junior golf.
