Miss Sandy Creek Pageant is this Saturday

The Sandy Creek High School Choral Department has rescheduled the 2014 Miss Sandy Creek Pageant after inclement weather forced the original pageant to be cancelled. The pageant is Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone.

Doors will open at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance for $7 on Friday, Feb. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the SCHS cafeteria, or for $10 at the door.

The pageant is the most important fundraiser of the year for SCHS choral programs. Contestants will compete for prizes and scholarship money. Scoring of the pageant has three components: teacher recommendations, an interview with the judges, and the evening gown presentation. The first two components are scored prior to Saturday evening’s pageant.

During the pageant, a song from SCHS’s upcoming spring musical, “Once Upon a Mattress,” will be performed by the cast of the show. In addition, several young men from the SCHS Chorus will provide entertainment with a men’s formalwear presentation.

The SCHS Choral Department invites the community to support the school’s choral programs during an evening that celebrates some of the outstanding young women of SCHS.
