Board member Marion Key makes dialogue easy

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to my Fayette County School Board representative, Marion Key.

When news of the search for a new superintendent of schools came out, Marion agreed to sit down with several concerned parents in our community, hear our concerns, and answer questions as best she could. She was able to meet with us on a very short notice.

She explained the many possibilities involving public input, a contracted search firm, qualifications, and timeframe.

Marion was really good at taking her knowledge and putting it into laymen’s terms. She genuinely cares about the students of Fayette County, their families (present and future).

The selection of a new superintendent is one of the most important decisions in our county, affecting property values, our children, and families. The more dialogue we can have with our school board, the better.

Thank you, Ms. Key.

Remember, Marion is only 1 vote & most BoE votes go 3/2 with Marion usually on the 2 side of things. She is outnumbered & probably will be when it comes to the vote for superintendent.

g8trgrl, what you say is true, but isn't Gang of Three member Lee Wright up for re-election this year?

Lee Wright, whose sole contribution to the Board of Education was a proposal to publicly embarrass and/or humiliate Dell Computers into allowing Fayette County schools to keep the computers that the BOE had been renting....

Now there's a name in the pot for a new superintendent. I think she would be an outstanding choice.
