Schubert piano trios and guitar duo perform at Spivey Hall this weekend

Franz Schubert’s Piano Trios and the Assad guitar duo will be featured this coming weekend at Clayton State University’s world-famous Spivey Hall.

On Saturday, Mar. 20, David Finckel (cello), Wu Han (piano) and Philip Setzer (violin) will play the Schubert Piano Trios in an 8:15 p.m. concert, preceded by a 7:15 p.m. pre-concert talk.

Finckel and Han rank among the most esteemed and influential classical musicians in the world today. Co-artistic directors of New York's Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center, they are joined by Setzer, Finckel's Emerson String Quartet colleague, and a distinguished violinist in his own right. Admission is $40.

The guitar duo Sérgio and Odair Assad will be playing Spivey Hall on Sunday, Mar. 21, at 3 p.m. The Washington Post calls the Assads, "the best two-guitar team in existence, maybe even in history." These Brazilian-born brothers have set a new standard of guitar innovation, ingenuity and expression. Admission is $40.

For additional information and tickets, go to the Spivey Hall website; www.spiveyhall.org.
