Area newborns benefit from donations

Select a special Easter egg, then open it and read the note inside that describes items desperately needed for area newborns. That's what the members of the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City recently did to support the Pregnancy Resource Center of Fayette.

In keeping with their motto of “Serving the children of the world” the members then went shopping and returned with receiving blankets, baby wipes, assorted diapers, baby oil, shampoo and other related items for newborns valued at over $800.

Mary Ann Beckham (right), Chair of the Young Children Priority One Kiwanis Committee, made a presentation of the donated articles to Luci Hough, Director of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Fayette.  The Center has been operating since 1994 and consists of a director and administrative assistant. The day-to-day operation is done by a team of over 20 volunteers.  It helps moms and moms-to-be with a full-range of services, meeting both material and educational needs.  The Center is a private Christian organization, which receives no state or federal funds, and operates totally on donations from churches, individuals, civic organizations and businesses.
