Tea Party events coming April 15 to PTC and Newnan

This time last year a small handful of people in Fayette and Coweta counties decided to mirror similar efforts planned across America by protesting their dissatisfaction with the federal government at Tea Party rallies on April 15. Hundreds attended the local rallies.

Now with local mailing lists totaling a few thousand, the South Atlanta Tea Party Patriots, the Coweta Tea Party and the Fayette/Coweta 9.12 Patriots will be holding events again this year on April 15 in Peachtree City and Newnan.

The Peachtree City event will be held from 12-1:30 p.m. at Drake Field adjacent to Peachtree City Hall and Lake Peachtree. The event will feature radio talk show host Herman Cain.

The 2010 Tax Day Rally in Newnan will be held at Greenville Park from 12-1:30 p.m. The rally will kick off with live music followed by speaker Virginia Galloway, state Director for Americans for Prosperity, and comments from State Representative Billy Horne, State Senator Mitch Seabaugh and local businessman Rob Brass. Attendees are encouraged to bring tasteful protest signs and flags.

Fayette County’s South Atlanta Tea Party is the new name for the Southern Crescent Tea Party Patriots. The non-profit South Atlanta Tea Party is a grassroots non-partisan group concerned with the direction the country is headed. For more information on the organization and transportation to the rally later April 15 in Atlanta visit www.southatlantateaparty.org

The Coweta Tea Party is a non-partisan, non-profit social welfare organization dedicated to furthering the common good and general welfare of the people of the United States. CTP furthers this goal by educating the public and promoting the principles of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government and free markets. CTP has not endorsed candidates for public office. Visit www.cowetateaparty.org for information on the organization and the Atlanta rally April 15.

The Fayette-Coweta 9.12 Patriots is a grassroots non-partisan organization of fiscally and socially conservative citizens dedicated to returning America to its founding constitutional principles. For more information visit www.fc912patriots.com.

Why do they need so many names for their tea parties? I thought they weren't "parties," but just arisen people.

Anyway I check the web site of the "Fayette-Coweta 9.12 Patroits," And on the Home Page alone was found 4 misspelled words and the last sentence made no sense!

Better be careful of this bunch! Even Dr. Paul wouldn't be interested, I don't think!

I was disappointed to find out that you were right regarding the Fayette-Coweta 9.12 Patriots webpage. I believe that Americans need to become more involved in their government - and should be joining together to elect those who will work for the American people - and not the special interest lobbyists who have more access to our leaders than those who actually vote for them. It is common sense that you can't keep using the same methods/strategies of leadership/involvement - and expect different results. The radicals on both sides of our political spectrum have taken hold of the Tea Party/Coffee Party organizations. I hope that the next election will have over 60% of the electorate participating - and make the true voice of the American people heard in our state houses and DC.

I am sure you are almost finished with my recommended reading list on the Progressive Era. I am sure you learned a lot too.

Now here is one to read on democracy and how it works, 60% won't do it for us.

Don't let facts get in the way of how you feel.

I have showed you many times the real RADICALS that surround Obama.. Where are those RADICALS in the Teaparty.. You mean all those OLD people that are members? You know how crazy people over 60 are..

"Whoever claims the right to redistribute the wealth produced by others is claiming the right to treat human beings as chattel."

want to celebrate the Confederacy. You should see the response in the majority of the national blogs on this one!! No one would deny the Southern states the joy of celebrating Southern Heritage and Traditions. But the Confederacy? The act of war/secession was treason; the practice of slavery a dark spot on our history; THE CONFEDERACY LOST! What to celebrate? That governor of Mississippi is not doing the south a favor. It is quite obvious from certain bloggers on this blog that some Republicans are using the 'southern strategy' that worked for Reagan and Nixon 30 YEARS AGO! Conservatives have some very valid concerns - and they are expressed by most in an intelligent manner. . . but the US is not the same US that it was 30 years ago - and using ignorance and prejudice to create mistrust and fear is going to denigrate the Republican Party. There are too many cogent issues to be dealt with than to cater to the 'radicals' who still believe that the ‘southern’ strategy will work in 2010.

S. Lindsey's picture

Unless you are trying to link the two I don't see the symbolism.

Are you surmising that every Teaparty member is a closet Confederate? I bet those Teaparty members in NEW YORK will be surprised to hear about that..

btw.. when did being proud of a heritage become racist?

What the heck are you talking about? I have never read so much gobble-d-gook in my life!

The question was, where are the radicals in the Tea Party?

Just point them out. Who are they?

BTW, I personally don't think Obama has done anything wrong here, he told us exactly what he was all about and what he was going to do. We all knew his background and he was voted in anyway. We all knew his associations with Marxist elements. He is simply doing what he said he would do if elected President. He's "transforming America". Quotes included to quote the President. WE all know it's not America; it's the United States of America. I just don't want to be blamed for being "illiterate" by a few on this board, not that it matters.

Now it's up to us to correct this mistake and we will start in November.

Get ready for change we can believe in. :-]

should have opinions! If you can't spell...you better not have an opinion, or try to assemble to protect your individual rights. Oh, that's right...you couldn't possibly understand your rights if you can't spell. So you should just sit down and shut up! The Liberals will do all the thinking and talking for you. It'll be alright...."Trust Them!"

Certainly you can find a better retort than 'spelling'. We do have young people who MAY be reading this - and the use of the spell checker is not difficult. My statement pretty clearly states that labels should not be used to divide us - but our ideologies/philosophies should be used to provide us with the best government possible - not one that relies on who has the best sound-bite or comeback. All ideas should be viewed and considered. . . even yours and mine.

not me. You two couldn't find anything of substance to ding them on other than spelling! Your always spouting off about not being divided, "we must work together" I think is your favorite statement. Well they are saying that too...right on their website! The problem is that they don't want to work together to dismantle America like you Liberals do, they want to work together to make us strong and prosperous again.

There lies the problem Liberals think our strength and prosperity comes from Government not the PEOPLE!

The spelling errors on the website are a reflection of the ignorance that permeates the "tea party" movement--naive people led by conservative and libertarian ideologues and Republican Party faithful.

The claim that liberals want to "dismantle" America is an example of such ignorance.

You assume that liberals are not as patriotic as conservatives, libertarians, and the whole tea party crowd. What arrogance on your part!!

You and the tea party crowd do not have a monopoly on what the constitution means or a monopoly on love of our country.

Your idea of "working together" means giving up any views that do not agree with the tea party folks. Well that is not going to happen.

I suggest that you spend less time listening Beck, etc.

PTC Observer's picture

For the record, I am not a member of the Tea Party and have never gone to one of their gatherings.

I do however agree with their stated goals: smaller central government and lower taxes.

What exactly refects "ignorance" in these two goals?

Do you believe in higher taxes and larger government?

Please enlighten us.

The Tea party "goal" of smaller government and lower taxes is not so much a "goal" as it is a simple ideological mantra. I have no idea of what they want government to do for them or what level of taxes they would like.

We live in a very complex world and need an effective central (and yes large government) to address these common problems. The Federal government in terms of domestic policies has been a force for progress in America. Just to name a few examples; end of slavery, progressive labor laws, women's rights, end to segregation, clean air, clean water, healthcare, etc. I am glad to see the central government support these goals.

I am willing to pay taxes to address our common problems.

You want lower taxes. Let me ask you this: What level of taxes do you consider acceptable?

Obama's mantra is "CHANGE"...where is it. Same ole washington politics nothing has really "changed".

The Federal Government hasn't been as much of a "force for progress" in the items you mentioned as you think. There were abolishonists and outside influences that started Lincoln down the path to the Emancipation Proclamation and ultimately the passage of the 13th ammendment.

Labor laws were a result of striking workers and uprisings during the 19th and the early 20th centuries. Many of those uprisings were quelled violently by the same Federal government you applaud for being a "force for progress".

Womens rights were a direct result of the "Women's Suffrage" movement.

People protested in the streets during the Civil Rights Movement, to end segregation. Ultimately, as a result, the Civil Rights act of 1964 was passed.

The Environmental movement has gotten us to the clean air and clean water laws of today.

Notice that each of these came about as a result of "the people" being organized and demanding it. Not the other way around, like healthcare has been.

I am willing to pay some taxes too, but until the federal government gets to a point that they can be good stewards of those taxes...I'm not willing to pay any more.

I nor anyone else can tell you exactly what number it should be. What we can tell you though, based on all the waste and corruption within the current government, is that it should be LESS!

Oh and one more thing...Doesn't the fact that you couldn't spell "PTC Observer" right (you spelled it PTC Oberver) make you ignorant? That's by your standards not mine! I defend your right not to be able to spell!

[quote=1bighammer]

Where is it?

It might have slipped by you, but Congress just passed, and President Obama just signed, the most meaningful reform of health care in the past 30 years.

That's Change we can believe in!

Anything President Obama does that is not a tax reduction for hammer is not change he can believe in! Or enhances his rights over others.

I'm gonna just ignore Bacon hes's obviosly educated beyond his intelligence! But you deserve a reply.

I have never asked that my rights be enhanced over anyones. The constitution gives every US citizen certain rights. The First Ammendment gives me the right to express to you MY opinion. And my opinion of you is that you are a bed wetting Liberal.

You, Lion and Bacon Keep drinking the Kool-Aid! Just remember Jim Jones and the people's temple.

The Congress has passed and Obama signed the Health Care Reform Act, this coupled with the failure to extend the Tax Cuts passed under the Republicans will be known as the Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act of 2010. It will have the same impact as the Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act of 1930. Hurting the very people it was meant to help. So much for great the minds of governement.

An excellent opportunity to review this act.

This was from the state department.

A little different slant on the same 'facts'.

PTC Observer's picture

if you would simply read some history you would find out that this Act was repealed when the country was plunged deeper into the Depression by over taxation.

If you don't read history (at least the history that is not taught in public school) you will be condemned to repeat mistakes.

Our current political situation is exactly that……a mistake.

???? Cute. It's obvious you 'react' rather than 'read' what I post. But point noted.

PTC Observer's picture

1) There was no link on your post, so your point was lost.
2) I would never go to a government link (US State Dept.) to prove a point about the positive outcome of a government action. I simply makes your point a hollow argument. Just study unbiased history there you will find the truth and not from the propagandist.

There were two links.

PTC Observer's picture

I didn't see them, is there somewhere other than the body of the post where they may be located?

Place your cursor over the two BOLD sentences in the first PTC-OB.

Meaningful change comes slowly - but it comes! Don't forget a renewed respect among foreign powers; a military program that is supported/led by the generals on the ground rather than a civilian (Rumsfeld) in DC; a slow but steady economical growth; etc., etc., etc. The energy of this president is astounding. With all that is demanded of his time, he found time in his schedule to visit our sons and daughters in the battlefields. He has surrounded himself with intelligent persons who have the safety and security of the American people at heart. We don't have the ex-president of a horse organization in charge of Homeland Security. We have leadership in Washington that cares about the welfare of all humanity - and not an ideology that states 'if you're not with us - you're against us'. I think history will be kinder to Bush the son than some believe. Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rove destroyed a party that was so artfully developed by Reagan. Cyclist shared a very bleak picture of our 'budget'. If this was a household budget, we would be in deep trouble. . . .and we would look for ways to cut/save/eliminate. It will be necessary to sacrifice 'services'. What are the American people willing to sacrifice is the question. Many are growing their own vegetables for weekly consumption, many in the urban areas are using bicycles, many are purchasing smaller cars, etc. If you feel the 'crunch' hasn't hit your personal budget yet - just wait. Credit is still difficult to get. We're going to have to plan our purchases carefully. As we change our spending habits, so will the local, state, and federal governments (hopefully). I have watched the Glen Beck shows dedicated to denigrating this administration; I have read Joe Kawfi’s contribution to this blog – and the contributions of others who are repeating the same thing. Free speech is alive and well. The country is ‘hearing’ both sides/opinions. We may have new representatives in Congress – but Obama will have his two terms.

PTC Observer's picture

But his exit from politics will begin in November in the polling booth. ;-]

I don't watch Beck on a regular basis, but when I do have the occasion to watch he seems to be going just a bit too far in this conspiracy theories.

Fundamentally, he is a Libertarian and generally I agree with these folks.

I wouldn’t put Beck at 99% for this reason; he extrapolates too much on the “connections”. He needs to simply stick to history and the rational approach that most Libertarians take to politics and economics.

What respect DM.. He disrespect Israel’s Prime Minister, he gives as a gift of State to England a bunch of DVDs..

April 4, 2009 - President Obama made a surprise visit to Baghdad, Iraq at the tail end of his first overseas trip as president. Surprise visits became the norm under Bush. To my knowledge none of these names you list "surround" the President! They aren't on the payroll nor are they volunteers.
Aren't these mostly city organizers of minorities? What is wrong with that?
The KKK outfits, and The Heritage Foundation are organizers for majorities. So are the current conservatives!

Mr. Wright is a preacher I remember also from Chicago. He ran a church similar to Palin's in Alaska. The President's family attended there. Most black churches are highly emotional in their services. Also, some fundamentalist churches. I am speaking of shouting, screaming, wriggling on the floor, clapping constantly, amening from the corners constantly, false healing of cancer, etc., collecting money and holding political meetings in the church, and eating a lot there. Most children get their naps there about 3:00 PM. The bathrooms need an "in between" cleaning.

Not for me but for some it is.

What does DM agree with you about?

Do you want to know some more friends of Bush, Cheney, Barbour, Terminator, The Mormon fellow from Mass., Palin's almost son-in-law, Newt, Turd Blossum, Commandant of Abu-Ghraib, Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, The CEO and President of Enron (dead and prisoner), all major bank CEOs, Most of Wall Street major traders, all of Madison Avenue big boys, and all who were responsible for decisions on our 10 year wars and deaths and wounded.

Now which group did the most harm to us at least 1000 fold?

A catheter is inserted into the baby’s skull and the contents of the brain are “sucked out”–thus, collapsing the child’s skull. You better break out the glasses, or just break down and look at those lines a little closer, Lindsey is right. But on the other hand you were right when you said we can look up the facts for ourselves. 0 for 2 today mom, might better start fresh again tomorrow.

The Gallup Poll.

... Here

The black (or dark green) line represents approval rating. The green line represents disapproval rating. Need glasses - or are you color blind?

might do a little checking before you post it.. Just saying..

Place your cursor over the bold letters in my statement to you - and see for yourself. You should check the Gallup poll yourself instead of trying to appear all-knowing.

Basically, it is pretty straight forward for those not trying to visualize what isn't there.....

See, the darker line (in this case APPROVE) starts around 69% on the referenced graph and steadily declines to 45%. You know that by following to the END OF THE FREAKIN LINE and see where that leaves you. It is square between the 40 and 50, and they even give special help to those who can't figure it out by stating 45% (RIGHT AT THE END OF THE FREAKIN LINE).

Conversely, the lighter line (in this case DISAPPROVE) starts around 12% on the graph and moves steadily upward to 48%. Again, you know that by following to the END OF THE FREAKIN LINE and see where that leaves you. It is closer to the 50 than midpoint, and again they give special help to those incapable of deciphering graphs by stating 48% (AGAIN, RIGHT AT THE END OF THE FREAKIN LINE).

Another pointer, the end of the darker line (approve) is BELOW the end of the lighter line (disapprove). Now, how could his approval rate be higher than the disapproval rate IF THE END OF THE FREAKIN APPROVAL LINE IS BELOW THE END OF THE DISAPPROVAL LINE??? Probably the same way 69% of the voters cast their ballots for Obama in 2008.....

69% huh? You stand by that figure, and if so I'd love to see where you got it. Is this like the 70% of white people voting for Obama?
