Charity golf tournament coming to Cannongate

Awesome Youth Inc. will host its first annual Elaine B. Connally Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday, May 15 at the Canongate I Golf Club.

The tournament event begins at 11 a.m. with tee time at 1 p.m. Team registration and single registration is available. Team, single, and raffle prizes include items such as cash, golf equipment and a Honda Accord Crosstour.

Awesome Youth Incorporated is a nonprofit organization, with all proceeds from the tournament benefitting the Summer Camp Scholarships for underprivileged under-served youth.

The organization was founded in 2001 by Winston and Elaine B. Connally to empower youth and help them develop the skills necessary for a successful, responsible future. The annual summer camp allows students to participate in community enrichment programs and classes such healthy eating class and an academic enrichment class. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9949's next meeting is Thursday, July 9, at 200 Glendalogh Court in Tyrone. The group meets at 7 p.m. the second Thursday of every month.

Sports

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour traveled to Senoia June 6-7 for the Canongate Series #4. The Canongate Seminole Course played excellent host to two very competitive rounds of junior golf.
