Piester-Demerly engagement

Mr. and Mrs. Todd Piester of Peachtree City announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Lynne Piester, to Adam Ross Demerly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Demerly of Lawrenceville.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Piester of Chatham, N.Y., and Helen Hartman of Morgantown, Pa., and the late Robert Hartman. She is a graduate of The University of Georgia, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biological science. She currently is employed by the University of Georgia as a lab technician and will be starting her master’s for science education in the fall.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Field and the late Leona Demerly. He is also a graduate of The University of Georgia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education. He is employed by Forsyth County Schools as a math teacher.

The wedding will take place on June 4, 2011 in Snellville. Following a honeymoon in the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Winder.

The Georgia Department of Labor announced this week that the unemployment rate in the Three Rivers region in July was 7.1 percent, up five-tenths of a percentage point from 6.6 percent in June.
