VFW Prepares for Memorial Day in PTC

Members of VFW Post 9949 install the most recent veteran bricks at the Peachtree City War Memorial in preparation for Memorial Day: (L-R) Ben Gross, Bud Ellis, Joe Bowler, Arnie Geiger (kneeling), Doug Gray, Bill Camper, Allen Barnes and Al Hogg. Veterans and citizens will be honoring those veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives, for their country and for the freedoms we all enjoy today. The annual Memorial Day Ceremony is Monday, May 26, at Peachtree City Hall Plaza at 9 a.m. Special guest speaker will be Brigadier General Steven Hawkins, US Army (Ret.), who served as the World War Overseas Director for the American Battle Monuments Commission, overseeing the operation of memorial military cemeteries and U.S. monuments in 10 countries. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Photo/Holly Bowler.
