1 killed in Brooks truck crash

A young Senoia man died this morning after his truck skidded off the road in a one-vehicle crash around 9:20 a.m., sheriff’s officials said.

Elijah Kent Bishop, 19, was traveling east on Morgan Mill Road near Bankstown Road when

his 1985 Toyota pickup left the road on the right side, according to an account of the crash from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Bishop then tried to steer back onto the road, but instead the truck overturned as it skidded across the road and came to rest in a ditch on the opposite side of the road, officials said.

Bishop was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the truck during the crash, officials said.

The crash is being investigated by the traffic enforcement section of the sheriff’s office.

This is the third fatal motor vehicle crash this year in unincorporated Fayette County.
