Morris-Barrett engagement

Brenda and Rick Walton and Steve Morris of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Morris, to Jonathan David Barrett, son of Pam and David Barrett of Peachtree City.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Lillian E. McCay of Fayetteville and the late Thomas C. McCay, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dewey L. Morris of Atlanta. She is a 2001 graduate of Fayette County High School and a 2005 graduate of Auburn University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She currently is employed as a publisher with MD News Magazine.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Ethel Barrett of Macon and the late James H. Barrett, and the late Mary L. Adams of Peachtree City and the late William G. Adams of Atlanta. He is a 2001 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and a 2007 graduate of The University of Georgia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He is currently employed as an account executive with Simmons Bedding Company in Atlanta.

A May 2012 wedding is planned in Smyrna. Following a honeymoon, the couple will continue to reside in Smyrna.

The Georgia Department of Labor announced this week that the unemployment rate in the Three Rivers region in July was 7.1 percent, up five-tenths of a percentage point from 6.6 percent in June.
