July 4th is on July 3rd this year?

Went to the Farmers Mkt this am hoping to buy some of that great BBQ--only to discover he was not there. Another vendor said that the Code Enforcement folks came and ran him off. Something about "No street vendors allowed" or something about him needing a sink and water. Real story not clear but whatever it is, GIVE HIM A WAIVER!! Here's a guy providing local citizens a great product at a reasonable price and the city runs him off--somehow sounds sorta typical. How sad.

I disagree AHG. I went there, too. We were told that he didn't have running water and was not allowed to sell. We were also told he will be back next Sat. WITH running water. Although where he's gonna get it from, I don't have a clue.

These vendors know what the rules are and choose to disregard them. Unlike other cities, we actually enforce what's on the books. The fact that he has paid his money to the Market and still does this tells me he's not one bright businessman.

I am thankful we have standards to protect our health here. Heaven knows what could be sold if there are no guidelines for some of these yokels that might ruin it for the good vendors here. I look forward to seeing him NEXT Sat. If he doesn't show, well guess that tells us he just doesn't deserve our money.

Sounds like selective enforcement to me. Where have they been for the last month?Would be interesting to see the rationale behind whatever the ordinance (I presume it's an ordinance) says. And if the guy owns two restaurants, something tells me he's pretty smart and complies with health standards. As efficient as the Mkt Organizer/Manager seems to be I'm surprised this has happened. Like you, I'll be there Wed or Sat, checking.

I owe PTC Code Enforcement an apology. I have discovered that the BBQ man was shut down by the County Health Dept. I have been assured that he will return--all involved thoughtthat all the proper permits, etc were in order and obviously operated for a month with no problem. Still sounds like selective enforcement to me. For return plans, monitor

the situation and make a decision on things like this. We will have to agree to disagree on banning the BBQ guy. Sounds fair enough to me, many of my neighbors think BBQ'ing is nothing more than throwing a few hot dogs on a gas grill. :)

Your neighbors do "grilling" NOT BBQ'n. This guy uses a dry rub on Pork Butt/Shoulder and smokes it for many hours, using hickory with occasional cherry thrown in. And if you read my later post, it was the County Health Dept that shut him down and he will be back. Go try some and you will be a dedicated customer.

Pork Butts that is, I know the drill. You can't beat properly cooked pulled pork.

Just commenting about the lack of knowledge by some about good Que....

enjoyed it very much.

Nice lead-in, Spy. You had me there for a moment with your smokin'.:)
