Good turnout for NAACP candidates’ forum
The meeting room at the Fayetteville Library was packed July 17 as nearly every candidate for local and state office was on hand to respond to questions and explain why they should be elected. The forum was sponsored by the Fayette County Branch of the NAACP. Photo/Ben Nelms.

Remind your people to vote on Tuesday!
Those attending church services and place of employment today and tomorrow please remind your family, friends, coworkers, & neighbors to get the vote out this Tuesday, 31 July, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fayette County has 37 voting precincts - please remind all to vote!!!!

Commissioner candidates Lee Hearn and Jack Smith did not think enough of this group of citizens to even show up for their event. The way I looked at it is that if I am elected I will be representing all the citizens of the county not just specific groups. I also thought it was very disrespectful of these candidates not to come to this event. I hope the audience notice they were not there.
