Laurel Borg Higgins, 74, of Fayetteville

Laurel Borg Higgins, 74, of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away on August 1, 2014.

Laurel is predeceased by her father John (Buck) E. Borg Sr. and mother Vivian M. Borg (Hedin).

Laurel is survived by her brother John E. Borg Jr. (Karen), nephew Michael J. Borg, great niece Crystal Aikens, son Walter Johnson (Connie), grandchildren Ellen, Laura, Rachel, Alex and Neil. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends that she met throughout her life.

Laurel was born in Minneapolis, Minn. in1940. She graduated from Minnehaha Academy in 1958, attending on a church scholarship. She worked in retail sales for many years and retired in 2005 from the Minnesota Supreme Court where she worked as a criminal justice specialist training personnel on computer applications.

Laurel was an avid reader and enjoyed mystery novels. She took numerous Mystery Cruises with her friends. She was a very caring and giving person and was always ready to help anyone. In Minneapolis she was involved in raising funds for Children's Hospital of Minnesota. She will also be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.

The funeral service will be held on August 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Grace Evangelical Church, 164 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214 with Pastor Michael Stachura officiating. A reception will be held at the church after the service. Burial will be in Minneapolis, Minn. at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Church Missions Fund, 164 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214.
