Former Fayette athletes shine in Olympics

Christian Taylor, a Sandy Creek graduate and former Florida Gator, had the top jump in Triple Jump qualifying on Tuesday (17.21 meters). The jump was 0.4 meters ahead of Leevan Sands of the Bahamas, who took second in the group. The triple jump final will take place at 2:20 p.m. EDT

Also taking place on Thursday afternoon (2:45 p.m.), the U.S. Women’s soccer team, featuring Starr’s Mill and Stanford University graduate Kelley O’Hara, will face Japan in the gold medal match. The game is a rematch of the 2011 Women’s World Cup final, which Japan won in shootout.

Congratulations, Christian, on your gold-medal jump!! We're thrilled for you!!
