Senoia cops nab man after high-speed chase

It began as an attempt by a Senoia officer to stop a speeding vehicle. But by the time the Aug. 10 incident was over it had turned into a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle, a brief manhunt and the apprehension of a 22 year-old Gay resident on multiple charges.

Curtis B. Hall was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding and driving while unlicensed, according to Senoia Police Maj. Steve Tomlin.

Tomlin said the Senoia officer on patrol at approximately 8 p.m. on Aug. 10 attempted to stop a Chrysler 300 for speeding on Luther Bailey Road, but Hall increased his speed once lights and sirens were activated. The officer called in the license number as the driver attempted to flee and learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen in the south Meriwether County town of Manchester on July 31, Tomlin said.

Tomlin said the pursuit by Senoia officers continued through south Coweta County and into Meriwether County, with speeds at times reaching approximately 95 miles per hour. The pursuit ended on a dead-end road south of Gay when Hall jumped from the vehicle and ran into a nearby wooded area, Tomlin said.

The Senoia officers were joined by Meriwether County deputies and Ga. State Patrol troopers to set up a perimeter around the area, Tomlin said, adding that Hall was apprehended a short time later.
