North Fayette crash kills Riverdale woman

A Riverdale woman died late Wednesday morning after her car ran off the road in north Fayette County, sheriff’s officials said today.

Maria Garcia, 45, was alone in her Mercury Mountaineer SUV going north on Ga. Highway 314 near Bethea Road when the crash occurred, officials said.

Deputies do not know why Garcia lost control of her vehicle, causing her to run off the roadway, officials said. Garcia was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was thrown from the vehicle, deputies said.

Garcia was taken to Southern Regional Hospital where she later died from her injuries, deputies said.

An investigation into the crash will continue, sheriff’s officials said.
