Suicide by firing range

A Peachtree City woman walked into Atlanta Range and Ordnance shooting range in Newnan Sept. 6, rented a firearm and target lane, and — after making sure no other customers or store personnel were close by — shot herself to death.

The 48-year-old woman had a Wynnmeade Parkway address in Peachtree City.

Newnan Police reports said a call was dispatched at 1:18 p.m. in reference to a suicide by gunshot inside the business. Officers subsequently collected evidence indicating that the woman entered the business with the intention of using a firearm to commit suicide.

Officers found a note in her possession that apologized to the business and indicated who should be contacted, according to media reports.

The woman had previously visited the business and returned on Sept. 6 and rented a gun, shooting lane and protective gear, according to reports. The woman took her life after other customers had left the area, reports said. The incident was recorded on the store’s video system.

I always seem to be on the short end of the stick. If I want to buy something special for a family member, they have just sold the last one.
