Links of kindness to join others at Georgia Dome

No good deed goes unlinked at Flat Rock Middle.

The school’s Builders Club is sponsoring a school-wide Random Acts of Kindness program with a goal of creating a giant chain that will wrap throughout the halls, each link representing a kind act of someone at the school. A random act of kindness is any effort of goodwill that students, teachers, and staff do at school, home, or in the community.

The project ties into the Rachel’s Challenge program and the 11Alive News initiative aimed at setting a record for the largest chain link of kindness and compassion. The chain, featuring acts of kindness from schools and organizations throughout the state, will be assembled at the Georgia Dome on November 11. Members of the Builder’s Club plan to be there to add Flat Rock’s links to the chain. Lisa Mason, an 8th grade English teacher, is the sponsor of the Builder’s Club.

The Rachel’s Challenge program was created in honor of Rachel Scott, the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America.
