Husband convicted of wife's murder

A north Fayette man was convicted late this afternoon for brutally stabbing his wife nine times in front of their three young children just outside their home at the Landmark Mobile Home Park Jan. 20.

Jesus Ojeda Jimenez, 34, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus an additional 40 years in prison by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Robert Mack Crawford.

Jimenez’s attorney argued that the crime was not premeditated and that he snapped because he believed his wife was having an affair with another man. However, prior to the deadly attack Jimenez wrote a note that was left in the family’s home, asking for forgiveness and for his children to be taken care of.

Prosecutor Warren Sellers also noted that Jimenez picked out the kitchen knife he used in the crime and laid in wait in darkness for his wife to come home, other signs that the crime was premeditated.

The Jimenez’s three children, all of whom witnessed the killing, have been in counseling and are living with separate family members.

During the attack, the couple’s oldest son, then 11, tried to stop his father but Jimenez pushed him away, Sellers added. His 9-year-old brother went to a neighbor’s house to call 911.

The attack stopped when that neighbor went outside, scaring Jimenez away, leaving his wife laying on the ground, bleeding from multiple stab wounds.

Jimenez had been deported from the United States in April 2010, two months after he pled guilty to striking Ruiz multiple times in a November, 2009 assault that left her with a number of bruises and abrasions all over her body, a swollen eye and a bloody nose, according to the sheriff’s incident report.

Det. Wendy Moulder of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office served as the lead investigator in the case. Jimenez was represented by defense attorney Marco Corales and also received continuous service from an interpreter throughout the trial.

I cannot believe the reluctance of my fellow citizens to demand more aggressive prosecution of habitually violent people living within our community. The District Attorney's office is manned by very competent prosecutors who wish for us all to live in a safe environment. They work with passion to enforce our laws. However, society has developed a tolerance for violent criminal behavior. At times it seems that violent crime isn't punished with the maximum possible deterrent, the death penalty, because the victim was involved in a domestic relationship with the offender. This somehow makes the crime less egregious in the eyes of some. The defense attorney argued that the crime was not premeditated. Who cares! Is she just as dead?! I am not concerned with the predator, or what may have made him "snap". I am conerned first and foremost with the dead victim, then the children who watched their mother being stabbed, then the taxpayer who will have to house this habitual non-conformist in a climate controlled, clean room with his meals delivered to him! How about free health care, access to education, weight rooms and cable tv for life? I have these things, but I'll pay for them. Apparently I'll pay for his too. Shame on our federal government for failing to make sure he, and other criminals didn't remain "deported". If this predator's victim isn't alive to forgive him, we certainly shouldn't. He can get that in the next life as far as I am concerned. GOD bless prosecution-oriented attorney's! May the defense attorney representing this human sludge never sleep at night!

Localcop, I too favor the Death Penalty, and with this pos, I'll loan the County a Rope, but it looks like you and I will disagree on the US Constitution, ya see I happen to favor it, ALL of it! including the 4th 5th
6th 7th and 8th Amendments, I have to say it concerns me that a member of the Badged Community doesn't

Not to mention he was an illegal immigrant!!

I am sorry that you feel as though I do not respect The Constitution. I do not agree, in fact I thought The Constitution applied to all American citizens? Specifically I mean my First Amendment right to express my opinion in a non-violent way, even if the reader is of the opinion that I am "badged" because I have a call sign of localcop in a free-speech blog attached to a newspaper. By the way....are cops censored or something? I don't remember reading that anywhere. I thought that was just a job, not a societal sentence of some sort! GOD bless the po po.

. Speak away ! I sure haven't impeded you ability to speak your piece As I'm not the government I am not liable if I choose to censor your speech though, Ya see the Constitution puts limits on Government not the individual,. I can in my house censor "free speech" I can tell you or anyone else, they can NOT bear arms, I can hold a trial without a jury of my sons peers and without him being entitled to representation Oops, That last one seems to be something you would approve of. BTW, the US Constitution according to the 14th Amendment (very poorly written) makes it clear, If a person is subject to US or State law they ARE Constitutionally protected. So please, speak on ! but don't forget the 4th - 8th Amendments protect scum like this pos just as it protects people like you and I, and when we offer to remove one person Rights, we're hurting ALL of us

Just wanted to thank you for your service to our community, you are in fact the thin blue line between us and chaos.

I too have respect for those folks that will put on a Badge, and stand WITH the law,
My question PTCO is this, in all honesty what makes you think the "thin blue line" prevents chaos? Is Atlanta, New York City and Lost Angels void of "Thin Blue Lines"? I'd say they aren't, What prevents Chaos is a community that is KNOWN to NOT tolerate chaos, unbadged citizens willing to put THEIR lives on the line to stop the chaos, The security of your Home and Family is YOUR responsibility not the Police, Seriously, the Police can't be everywhere every time, and in most cases all they can do is "write a report" ( NO OFFENSE meant to Investigators/Detectives)The Young lady over here near Tyrone that was murdered on her front porch demonstrates my point, that if YOU are unprepared to deal with chaos, the police are usually only 10 mins away
Again. Let me be CLEAR, I too Thank with all my Heart those that wear a Badge FOR the Law,
but Chaos prevention is up to US not the Police

personal responsibility?

Yep, I can go for that and I have fully executed my 2nd Amendment right.

Your appreciation is appreciated sir/madam. I'm finished now after 29 years as a certified peace officer. I do remain amazed, however, at what human beings are capable of doing to each other. I can only imagine the fear experienced by the victim in this case as she was slaughtered by her husband! I wish I had been driving by at the time so I might have prevented it. Peace out!

Wow! Having been at the trial I noticed that the accused was represented by coucil. He turned himself in after a WARRANT was issued for his arrest. He ADMITTED the killing in a note that HE wrote. He was found GUILTY by a jury of his peers! Nothing more is to be expected. I was simply expressing an opinion on society in general becoming callus to violence. I did not mean to suggest that the offender should not have been protected by the Constitution. I argue he was.

I get a little "feather ruffled" when I hear or read people that would deny a person his or her rights. Based SOLELY on your comment about wishing his defense counsel sleepless nights I gathered you didn't support his right to that counsel, something that IS pure American and a right I am not willing to "give away" simply because in a country such as ours with so many laws on the books "breaking the Law" is NOT a challenging thing to do and I might one day be in need of that counsel myself. This murdering pos, most assuredly has earned the Right to be put to death,,,,as long as he had proper counsel, as you said now you and I get to buy this killer Cable tv medical care three squares a day and may even have to spend more money paying him when he wins his lawsuit over being given the "wrong toothbrush".

She is probably right. The boarder is probably safer than ever before. But what she's not saying is that we have states like Arizona, not the federal government, to thank for it. LOL

You can't use logic with an illogical person.

Yup, at least one state is trying to do what's right for the nation. The problem is, everything Arizona does, California is bending over backwards to give sanctuary to illegals. Same with cities like Chicago.

The liberals and the current administration care less about the citizens of this sovereign nation. Just think, in the not too distant future, we'll be paying for the healthcare of illegals.

BTW, here's my verison of the "Dream Act." We can call the "Citizens Dream Act"; and it goes like this......if you are illegal and caught you are deported.

The Obama so-called recovery/economy is so bad the Mexican government will probably have to fence the other side to keep them from running back! -GP

And Obama wants to keep immigrants here. Hmmm.

"The law should stop punishing innocent young people whose parents brought them here illegally and give those young men and women a chance to stay in this country if they serve in the military or pursue higher education. A smart 21st century system should also provide farmers a legal way to hire the workers they rely on year after year, and it should improve procedures for employers who seek to hire foreign workers for jobs if U.S. workers are not available."

Yeah we should totally give them a chance dude. Totally anonymous people without social security numbers or a language that our country understands should just stay for free and enjoy the freedoms that our men fought for and continue fighting for. Why not? The drive Yukons and shop with EBT cards that we pay for through our paychecks, which is taken out because we work hard to pay taxes so that immigrants can eat. I can't even afford to buy a 1999 used Honda, but the immigrants down the street have a Yukon on 22's. Makes a lot of sense. They can kill, murder, rape, beat, and steal whatever they want and get deported, then run across the border and come back. They can take the risks because there is no repercussion, they get deported and then crawl back over the line-what a punishment! I wish that when I was younger, my mom just told me to outside and walk back in whenever I did something wrong. Yay Obama! Right?
aha.

Romney sucks.
Obama sucks.
We are doomed.

Our country is so stupid that it is embarrassing. It really is, I feel like entertainment for the rest of the world. We obsess over material possesiions while they invent nuclear weapons and rocket ships. We are so lame.

Someone PLEASE put a woman in the White House!!! It could be like Wife Swap, just try it out for 1 week! I bet the whole world would be in perfect harmony.
