Blessed pets

Pets of all varieties will assemble with their owners at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church on Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. This annual “Blessing of the Animals” service takes place on Sunday to remember St. Francis of Assisi, who had unique affinity for animals. Pastors Fritz Wiese and Miriam Beecher will bless each pet, each of whom will receive a gift from Wags to Whiskers pet shop. Middle-school age youth will bake treats for 4-legged pets. All pets are welcome, but appropriate cages or leashes are requested. Pastor Miriam Beecher blesses “Molly, owned by Ann Bowman,” at last year’s event. Photo/Special.
