George Dewey Roberts, 82, of Fayetteville

Mr. George Dewey Roberts, 82, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday September 29, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Mr. Roberts was born on August 7, 1930 in Fayette County to the late Ellison and Lizzie Mae Roberts.

Mr. Roberts proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Roberts worked in the freight line industry for 33 years and is a long standing member of Woolsey Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

Mr. Roberts is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Roberts and his son Nicky Roberts.

He is survived by his brother Louis (Dolores) Roberts of Florida, and sister Carolyn Carmack of Dalton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Roberts were conducted on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, with Dr. Aaron Turner and Rev. Chuck Chambers officiating.

Interment followed at the Whitewater Baptist Church cemetery in Brooks, Ga. Visitation with the family was Monday October 1, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
