Somerby unit makeup change approved

Thursday night, the Peachtree City Council approved a redistribution of units for The Somerby senior citizen residential complex off Ga. Highway 74 and Rockaway Road.

Somerby’s total units will remain at 310 despite the changes. It has increased its age-restricted assisted living units from 48 to 74.

In exchange, it will reduce its condominium units from 42 to 30, and its apartments from 150 to 136.

Council unanimously approved the unit changes, and also a change to the development agreement. The agreement change reallocates $200,000 that the developer was to contribute to a cart path tunnel underneath Ga. Highway 74 to be spent instead on the path connections for that tunnel.

The project has been delayed for well over a year due to the economy.
