Blanton-Detwiler wedding

Sarah Martha Blanton and Justin Philip Detwiler were married August 25th at Fountainview Mansion in Auburn, Ala. Officiating minister was the Rev. Brandon A. Isbell of Auburn.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Clayton Blanton of Peachtree City, Ga. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Jefferson M. Golden, Jr. and the late Mr. Jefferson M. Golden, Jr., and Mr. Jesse W. Blanton and the late Mrs. Ruth W. Blanton, all of Thomasville, Ga.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Lyle Detwiler of Vestavia Hills. He is the grandson of Mrs. Gisela S. Krant of Woodbridge, Va., Mr. James G. Walker of Keystone Heights, Fla. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin A. Detwiler of Arlington, Va.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride was attended by maid of honor Julie Blanton, sister of the bride, of Peachtree City, Ga.

The bride wore an ivory gown that had beaded and embroidered lace appliqué sewn onto netting over a satin lining with an organza band accenting the sweetheart neckline and train. It had a zippered slit on the side. The gown also had custom cap sleeves with a keyhole back.

The bride carried a bouquet wrapped with a custom handkerchief monogrammed by her mother. For her "something old", the bride carried an heirloom handkerchief carried by her great-great-great grandmother in her 1859 wedding.

Bridesmaids were Nikki Hopkins of Reno, Ga., Chrissy McClain of Brooks, Ga., Chaney Moss of Brentwood, Tenn., Kristen West of Huntsville, Ala. and Gerri Wright of Birmingham, Ala. Junior bridesmaid was Lauren Spiers, cousin of the groom, of Fairfax, Va.

Ryan Detwiler, brother of the groom, of Vestavia Hills, Ala., served as best man. Groomsmen were Colin Dinken, Jake Dorr, and Brian Hippensteel, all of Birmingham, Daniel Ashmore of Simpsonville, S.C., and Taylor Pierce of Hendersonville, N.C.

Flower girl was Hannah Louise Powell of Smyrna, Ga., cousin of the bride.

Wedding music was presented by Jennifer Beth Foster, soloist, of Fort Wayne, In., cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at Fountainview Mansion

The couple honeymooned in Maui and now reside in Birmingham, Ala.
