Nathan and I met at the Alice in Chains concert with my best friend Stephanie. It's so strange because she was talking about him just a few weeks earlier and all that he had gone through since his accident upon returning from his service in the Army. I felt like I knew him as soon as I saw him. She told me how he was always cutting up and how he made people laugh. So as soon as I saw him, I wanted to meet this wonderful young man. We were able to talk some, as much as you can at a concert, and I could tell he had a heart of gold. When she called me yesterday and told me what had happened, my heart was broken. I haven't been able to stop crying and I went to my knees to pray. I don't think I've prayed so hard in such a long time. I can't begin to imagine the kind of pain that he was in or the amount of pain that you all are in now. I'm so sorry for your loss of such a beautiful soul and I'll continue to pray for all of you. Sincerely, Dawn McClure

In my last article I raised the question of whether it was necessary to remove God from public discussion in order to have a free, pluralistic society.
