Sharpsburg man struck by vehicle, dies

A Sharpsburg man died early Monday night after being struck by a vehicle traveling on Ga. Highway 154 at Malvern Hill near Willis Road. No charges have been filed at this time.

Coweta Sheriff’s Lt. John LaChance said Sharpsburg resident Shane McCreery, 33, was hit by a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Whitesburg resident James Green at approximately 7:34 p.m. Monday.

LaChance said the initial investigation showed that McCreery was apparently in the southbound lane of Hwy. 154 at Malvern Hill when the accident occurred. It appeared that McCreery had been walking along Hwy. 154, LaChance said.

McCreery was transported to Piedmont Newnan Hospital where he died later Monday night, LaChance said.

LaChance said the potential for charges will be determined once the investigation has been completed.
