The newly formed Mountain Wine Country Cooperative is delighted to present the inaugural Holiday Weekend in Mountain Wine Country Dec. 1-2.

Purchase a limited edition Mountain Wine Country glass at any of the 10 participating wineries for $10 and take it to participating wineries during the special two-day event. Tasting charges will be waived and each winery will be offering a special experience to holiday weekend visitors.

As an added bonus, show your Mountain Wine Country glass at any Rib Country Restaurant and receive a 20 percent discount on meals. The same discount is also offered by Best Western in Murphy, N.C., Ridges Resort and Marine in Hiawassee, Ga., and Paradise Hills Resort and Spa in Blairsville.

The Georgia Department of Labor announced this week that the unemployment rate in the Three Rivers region in July was 7.1 percent, up five-tenths of a percentage point from 6.6 percent in June.
