Time to help military families with Christmas

Let’s go out with a bang! Guess that’s a poor choice of words, but you know me! The war is finally winding down, and this will be the last year that Embracing Military Families will be helping the brave men and women at Ft. Benning provide a Merry Christmas for their families.

Even as the news continually updates us on the units coming home, a lot of units remain deployed. And, as I have said in the past, for many of the soldiers, this is their fourth or fifth deployment. They still need our help.

I know this economy doesn’t lend itself to my constant coming to the well. And I know we are all stretched with what to do with our charitable dollars. But won’t you help me one last time?

Embracing Military Families will be redirecting its energies in the New Year and concentrating on wounded warriors and their families. This will be an ongoing effort, with a different focus.

But for this year, let’s give those littlest warriors one more Merry Christmas! Next year, God willing, their soldier parents will be home in time to give them the merriest Christmas ever!

If you would like to help, you can send a check to 202 Panstone Drive, Peachtree City, GA 30269. Or, if you prefer, there are money jars located at Omega Book Store, Pam’s Hallmark, Wild Birds Unlimited and Rona’s Florist — all located next to Fresh Market.

In addition, if you would like to donate a toy, there are boxes located at Y Knot Sports Bar, J. Christopher’s, Massage Envy, World Gym, DHL and Johnny’s Pizza’s. My thanks to these wonderful local businesses!

Embracing Military Families is a 501(c)3 charity under the umbrella of United Charitable Programs.

Thank you in advance and God bless!
