Mr. and Mrs. Peter T. Griffith of Peachtree City announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Elizabeth, to James Ian Belanger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. Belanger and Mr. and Mrs. Rex A. Kennedy of Leesburg.

The bride-to-be is a 2003 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and a 2007 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She received her bachelor and master of science degrees in earth and atmospheric sciences and is currently employed as a meteorologist intern for the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

The groom-to-be is a 2003 graduate of Lee County High School and a 2007 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received a bachelor of science degree in earth and atmospheric sciences and is currently pursuing a doctorate in the same field. He is employed as a lead hurricane forecaster for Climate Forecast Applications Network.

May nuptials are planned.

Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 8, at about 9 p.m. and continue through the night to modify existing lane configurations at the intersection of Newnan Crossing Bypass and Hwy.
