COS youth to host dinner, auction Sat.

Middle school and high school youth at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City invite everyone to their annual Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction this Saturday, Nov. 8, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

The youth help prepare and serve the spaghetti, salad, bread, and dessert.

The Silent Auction will feature donated and unique hand-crafted items.

Legacy’s Team Holland performs its own version of extreme makeover

In the summer of 2012, school teacher Cindy Holland suddenly lost her husband to pancreatic cancer and faced a myriad of home repair issues. Hank and Kara Lane organized a small group from Legacy Christian Church and a circle of friends to help put a much needed new roof on Holland’s house.

The mission became known as “Team Holland.” Hank, with help from Greg Creighton, assembled a group of men to remove the existing roof and replace it with a new one — all in a three day period. Read More»

FPC will honor vets this Sunday

Fayette Presbyterian Church, 791 Forest Ave. (Ga. Highway 92 North) in Fayetteville will observe Veteran Recognition at each service this Sunday.

The recognition will be held at 8:30 and 11 a.m, followed by worship, and will include a slide show of FPC members and friends who have served, and a recognition of everyone present who has or is currently serving in the U.S. military.

Each branch of service will be honored individually, followed by a stanza from its service song. Read More»

Women of Faith live simulcast starts this Friday

Members of Peachtree City Christian Church Women’s Ministry are busy preparing for hundreds of women in the surrounding area to attend the Women Of Faith – Survival to Revival 2014 Live Simulcast this Friday, Nov. 7, from 7-9 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will be held at the church, 500 Kedron Dr., Peachtree City.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at www.ptc3.com/women-of-faith/ or in the church office.

The doors will open an hour early and Roly Poly will provide box lunches for $7. Read More»

Healing Bridge Clinic hosts banquetto raise awareness, honor visionary

The Healing Bridge Clinic in Peachtree City recently hosted an awareness banquet at First Presbyterian Church PTC to inform those attending about its ministry. The evening included live music, photos, and a meal. The banquet honored Ms. Ruth McCammon whose original vision led to the formation of the clinic.

The Healing Bridge Clinic exists to serve the uninsured and underinsured of Fayette, Coweta, and South Fulton Counties with quality, professional medical care. Its staff provides free routine, non-emergency medical and nursing care normally provided at family practice centers. Read More»

Mickey Mouse (AKA Silas Brooks May) explored the cab of a big red fire truck at the recent Hopewell UMC Fall Festival. The “Touch the Truck” exhibit was provided by the Fayette County Fire Department and the children were able to touch, climb on, and ask questions about the big truck from the helpful firemen at the event. Higher Ground panel discussion set for tomorrow

The Higher Ground Group, comprised of an assembly of four long-time Atlanta faith leaders who share common experiences and lead positive change, will explore what it means to be a person of faith within a diverse social system via a panel discussion entitled “Christians, Jews and Muslims: Let’s talk — Opening the dialogue amongst all peoples of faith.”

The event will be hosted by and held in the sanctuary of Newnan Presbyterian Church on Thursday, Nov. 6 from 7 - 8 p.m. and is an initiative led by Hasco Craver, City of Newnan’s business development director. Read More»

Children from Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will Trick-or-Treat at Heritage of Peachtree Assisted Living on Oct. 29. They will also participate in “reverse” Trick-or-Treating when they take to the residents bags of candy they have collected.
