Paul and Judy Massey complete visit to all 50 states

In a quest taking 49 years, Dr. Judy Massey and Father Paul Massey this summer completed their goal of visiting all 50 states plus the U. S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Recent visits to North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin completed the circuit.

Judy Massey is the author of three books and is a popular Christian speaker. Paul Massey is Pastor Emeritus of Fayetteville’s Church of the Holy Cross and authors the Citizen’s “Ask Father Paul” column. Read More»

New Bible studies begin Sept. 7 at PTCUMC

Registration is underway for new Adult Bible Study classes offered at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Rd. in Peachtree City. Everyone is invited to sign up for one or more classes.

Short Term Bible Studies include:

• Fresh Encounter, classes begin Sept. 9 and continue each Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Book cost: $13.

• Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent, classes begin Sept. 10 and continue each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Cost: none.

Car show at High Museum is destination of S.A.G.E.

The S.A.G.E. group (Senior Adults Going Everywhere) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will visit the High Museum in Atlanta on Wednesday, Aug. 20 to view the Dream Cars special exhibit of 17 concept cars built from the early 1930s to the 21st century. These cars pushed the limits of imagination and foreshadowed the future of design. The group will then enjoy lunch at the High Café and explore other exhibits at their leisure.

Heritage Christian hosts appreciation luncheon for Inman Elementary faculty

Heritage Christian Church recently hosted a teacher appreciation luncheon for the faculty of Inman Elementary School. The cookout, held at the outdoor pavilion by Lake Heritage, was hosted to support the teachers for the upcoming school year. Several needed supplies which the congregation donated were presented to the teachers.

FFUMC’s Titus II group will host musical program Sept. 2

Titus II at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church kicks off the 2014 – 2015 year on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with a musical program presented by Cordially Yours, an a cappella vocal trio led by Ms. Cathy Wright.

Lunch will include a low country boil featuring shrimp, kielbasa, corn and potatoes plus a green salad, cheddar cheese biscuits, and apple cobbler.

Evergreen Church backpack blitz

Sixty backpacks filled with grade-specific school supplies were presented to Huddleston Elementary School by Evergreen Church of Peachtree City just in time for the first day of school. Meeting for new UMC startup in Coweta planned for Saturday

A meeting to garner interest in the startup of Threshold Church. a new United Methodist Church planned for Coweta County, will be held this Saturday, Aug. 16 from 7-9 p.m. at the Newnan Carnegie Library.

Attendees will enjoy a showing of the movie “Stranger Than Fiction.” Discussion will follow. Refreshments will be provided.

Spearheading the effort is the Rev. Dr. Quincy Brown, a seasoned UMC minister and long-time pastoral leader in the North Georgia United Methodist Conference. Brown also is a resident of Newnan. Read More»

Carriage Lane’s yard sale starts Friday in P’tree City

Members of Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City are accepting donations today until 7 p.m. for their annual Ranch on Jesus yard sale planned for this Friday, Aug. 8, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday Aug. 9 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The annual yard sale plays a large part in covering the educational costs of Ugandan children at Ranch on Jesus orphanage.
