Top 2009 PTC agents recognized by Coldwell Banker Bullard

Jim Qualls was recognized recently as the 2009 Top Producing Agent for Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty’s Peachtree City/Fayette County office. Stephan Curcio was the office’s No. 2 producer for the year, while Donna Lasseter was No. 3.

The recognition came at the Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty organization’s annual awards event.

Orchids are topic at July’s Master Gardener meeting

Geni Smith, Fayette Master Gardener (1997) and member of the Orchid Society, presented a porgram on growing and caring for orchids at the July Fayette Master Gardener Association meeting.  Geni has won many awards for the orchids she grows and brought several beautiful orchids to use for demonstrations.  She repotted an orchid, showing how to set the roots and showed the proper potting mixture to use. At the April meeting of the Fayette Master Gardener Association held at the Fayetteville Library, George Long, speaker, held a question and answer session on Pesticides, Insecticides and weeds.  Long, a Fayetteville resident is one of the most respected Master Gardeners, who holds a degree in Horticulture.  He is a teacher and dynamic speaker for the UGA Extension Program.  Also, he volunteers each year at the Southeastern Flower Show and at the Fayette Extension Office giving advice by phone to callers on subjects such as turf and soil.  His property was on the 2009 Master Gardener Garden Tou Read More»

Master Gardener Program graduates 26 new volunteers

The Fayette Master Gardener Association and the Extension Office hosted a celebration luncheon for 26 new master gardener interns who completed an intensive 20-session training program that included midterm and final exams. Over the coming year, these volunteers will donate 50 hours of service to the county to be certified as master gardeners. After completion of the initial 50 hours, they will be required to give 25 hours of service each year within Fayette County to maintain active master gardener status. Read More»

Fayette Master Gardeners hold plant sale Saturday

The Fayette Master Gardener Association will host its 2nd Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 1. The event will be held from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Fayette County Administration Complex parking lot, 140 Stonewall Ave. in Fayetteville . Hundreds of plants including annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetable seedlings, shrubs, trees and house plants will be available for sale at bargain prices.
