The “Give One to the Chipper” event each January is a favorite “Service Above Self” project of the Rotary Club of Peachtree City.

This year on Saturday, Jan. 5th, some 32 Rotarians along with several family members and friends volunteered to staff the Christmas Tree chipping locations at the Kedron Kroger and the Peachtree City Home Depot. The community was invited to bring their trees for chipping to these locations and the volunteers assisted in unloading their trees from the cars, trucks, trailers and yes – even from golf carts. The 2013 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday observance was held Monday morning in Fayetteville. The festivities began with the annual parade and were followed by celebration activities at the Lafayette Education Center that featured keynote speaker Julius Pryor, III.

In response to several harassment complaints filed recently by city employees, Peachtree City will host mandatory “workplace harassment” training the end of this month, according to City Manager Jim Pennington.

All city workers will be required to attend the training and the process will take about two weeks, Pennington said. The city is contracting with an outside firm to provide the training. Read More»
