He was a long-time member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. He served as a deacon at Morrow First Baptist Church, Harp's Crossing Baptist Church and Fayetteville First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and was active in several civic organizations. Homer retired in 1991 as a Zone Manager after 43 years of service with Ford Motor Company. George North Sparrow, Jr. of Fayetteville passed away on November 15, 2014 at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City.

He was a graduate of Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and was in private practice in the Atlanta area for 44 years, several years as attorney for the City of East Point.

He was the son of the late George North Sparrow and Sarah Holland Sparrow of Tifton.
